Levi’s Big E is a piece for anyone who loves the story behind their denim. The name refers to the red tab on the back pocket: from 1936 the tab read LEVI’S in capital letters, and in 1971 the lettering changed to a lowercase e. Jeans carrying the capital-E tab have become a shorthand for heritage denim, and the look has been revisited and reissued many times since.

This piece is presented for its heritage character and vintage-inspired appearance. We describe it as Big E style because of the tab detail and the classic construction it carries; we do not claim it as an authenticated pre-1971 original, and no production year is guaranteed. What you get is the aesthetic that made the Big E famous: a straight, honest leg, a sturdy five-pocket build and the unmistakable red tab.

Wear it the way it has always been worn. A plain white tee, a leather or denim jacket and a pair of boots is the timeless combination; a hoodie and a clean sneaker brings it into today. Because the leg is straight, it pairs easily with both slim and oversized layers.
