How to measure

Measure a garment you already own and love the fit of, laid flat, and compare with the tables below. Vintage sizing can differ from modern labels, so trust the measurements over the size name.

Tops, jackets and outerwear

Chest is measured across the front, armpit to armpit. Jackets are cut with room for layering.

Denim and pants

Waist is measured flat across the top of the waistband and doubled. Relaxed and wide-leg cuts sit lower on the hip.

Fit notes

Relaxed fit: roomy through the body, size down for a closer fit.
Regular fit: true to the table above.
Rigid denim: expect a slightly snug feel that eases with wear.
